Downtown

Last night, my book club went out to dinner at a new restaurant called Soleil located in the newly redone Colcord Hotel. The Colcord was an office building for years and was newly renovated to a 108 room hotel. All I have to say is WOW! The restaurant was delicious (and pricey). The decor is really neat. As we were leaving, one of my friends asked if we could see one of the rooms. The staff quickly accomodated us and showed us three rooms including the Rock and Roll Star Suite. WOW!! This suite was unbelievable. Its view was perfect, overlooking the Christmas lights at the Myriad Gardens. It was about 1200 square foot and decorated in a contemporary fashion. Very nice! Wish I could afford to stay there. 😉 Anyway, for you folks in OKC, this is a nice place to spend an evening and a great place to recommend to out-of-town friends. Very impressive! As one of my friends said, “No one will believe this is Oklahoma City!” Not that there’s anything wrong with Oklahoma City. It just seems that a lot of people think we still live in teepees and that it is all farm land. We are proud of our Native American culture and do have a lot of farmland, but most people don’t realize that Oklahoma City also has lots of great restaurants and entertainment places. Our downtown has been totally revitalized! I love Oklahoma City and am proud to call it home.
